Despite being clear about its plan to beat Apple in the future, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei and his Nothing company are openly following the iPhone mania by releasing Nothing-inspired cases for iPhone 15 and iPhone 14.
London-based Nothing Technology Limited is one of the new brands known to openly challenge the dominance of Apple in the smartphone industry, although it is currently nowhere to be seen among the list of giants with significant shares in the market. Nonetheless, it seems the company is trying to promote its brand in another way: limited-edition smartphone cases.
Partnering with Casetify, the company announced the arrival of Nothing-inspired iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 smartphone cases last Friday. Named Case (1), Case (2), Case (3), and Case (4), the accessories sport the brand’s distinctive design elements, which include a geometric back design and Nothing’s dot matrix characters. The company also offers a transparent Nothing Mini Pouch with Ear (2).
The cases are available for the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the iPhone 14 Pro. As expected, it comes with the iconic black and white variations, ultimately making the iPhones appear as Nothing.
The design of the cases is a direct adoption of Nothing Phone’s looks, which is one of Pei’s main visions for the creations. According to the CEO, before the Nothing Phone 1 release, the company aimed to create a distinguishing smartphone that would stand out. However, the brand is still struggling to compete in the market despite now offering the Nothing Phone 2, which offers much lower prices than iPhones.
That is expected, nonetheless, with many prime smartphone customers opting for iPhones by default due to familiarity. Yet, as the enthusiastic company notes, if you still want to stay on your iPhone but want “a taste of Nothing,” these cases are the perfect accessory. Pei followed it with a post, jokingly suggesting that the cases are “a design upgrade” for iPhone users who are still not making the switch to Nothing.
