In this article, I will talk about two password reset methods, which will only take a few minutes to complete. You must have access to the email account you used to set up the account

Without wasting any time, let’s get into it.

How to Reset Nintendo Password?

Resetting the switch password is a straightforward process that can be done in a few simple steps which won’t take more than 2 minutes.

METHOD A:

1. Access the Parental Controls

The first step in resetting the password is to access the Parental Controls settings. With Parental Controls, users can restrict access to certain content and features on the console, making it an ideal tool for parents who want to monitor what their children can access on the device.

To access the Parental Controls on the Nintendo:

  • Navigate to the System Settings menu on the home screen.
  • Scroll down and select Parental Controls
  • If prompted, enter the current Parental Controls PIN to continue.

2. Select Forgot PIN

Once you have accessed the Parental Controls menu, select Forgot PIN. This option will allow you to reset your forgotten password.

3. Confirm your Nintendo Account

To proceed with resetting your password, you will need to confirm your Nintendo Account.

To do this, click I Forgot on the Nintendo Account field, follow the on-screen commands, and enter your account information.

You can also create a new account if you don’t have one. Just select Create a New Account and follow the on-screen prompts to set up a fresh account.

4. Enter the Inquiry Number

After you have confirmed your account, you will need to provide the Inquiry Number. This number can be found on the Parental Controls screen of your Nintendo Switch.

Obtain the number and enter the number as prompted, and select Submit.

5. Wait for the Master Key

After submitting the Inquiry Number, wait a few minutes until you receive a Master Key from  Nintendo. This key is necessary to reset your password, and it can take up to a day for Nintendo to send it to you.

It’s important to note that receiving the key may take a while. So if you don’t get it instantly, don’t repeat the process and wait for the key to arrive.

6. Enter the Master Key

Once you have received the Master Key from Nintendo, the rest of the process is straightforward.

  • Go to Settings and Parental Control Menu.
  • Select Enter Master Key and enter the code you received.
  • Your password will be reset, and you can start playing games on your Nintendo Switch once again.
  • Make a note of the password for future use.

METHOD B:

Here is an alternative method to reset your Nintendo password:

  • Click the gear icon to access the system Settings
  • On the next screen, scroll down and click on Users
  • Select the user for which you want to reset the password.

  • Next, select Re-enter password and click on Forgot your password.
