Apple updated its support document for the Weather app, adding Australia to the list of countries supporting the app’s next-hour precipitation feature. (via MacRumors)
Australia-based users will now be able to receive notifications in case there is a chance to rain in their location in the next hour. This is all possible through the addition of the next-hour precipitation support to the app in the country. Australia joins the list of other places where it is now available, including Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
The feature will allow users to view a chart showing “a minute‑by‑minute forecast of precipitation intensity over the next hour.” According to Apple, it uses data from national weather services to provide the necessary details for the notifications. For the case of Australian users, the data will be sourced from the Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology.
Aside from precipitation forecasts for the next hour, other features already available in Australia include severe weather information and temperature and precipitation map data.
