It is equipped with the Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor and paired with 8GB of RAM. It runs on the Windows 10 OS and got 256GB of SSD storage space. The machine has a 15.6 inches FHD LED-Backlit display with an anti-glare panel.

Design

Design-wise the 5593 is very similar to the other Inspirons. Its chassis is made of aluminum, so it does feel light. The bottom cover is made of matt light grey plastic. This machine does not have front-firing speakers that you get on other laptops; instead, it has bottom-firing speakers. The bottom does not look as premium as other parts, which should not matter for most people. Overall, the laptop looks very well built.

Keyboard and Touchpad

This machine has a dark grey backlight keyboard; the keys are quiet and very responsive. It has a precision touchpad that supports multi-touch gestures with integrated scrolling. The overall keyboard and touchpad experience is very satisfying in our opinion.

Ports

This Dell Inspiron 15 5593 comes with all the ports you need. On the right side, it has a USB 2.0 port, SD card reader. On the other side, it has a power port, USB Type-C port, RJ45 port, HDMI port, headphone port, and a microphone combo jack.

As mentioned earlier, it comes with the Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor and paired with 8GB of RAM, which gives this machine enough performance for everyday use. Its Geekbench scores are also impressive. The only disappointing thing is the battery life. The battery lasts 5 hours on normal use, which is just about average.

The Acer Swift 3 SF314-55-55UT is good looking, offers solid performance, and does everything you need. The brushed effect aluminum body and the overall build quality is impressive, and it also has a fingerprint reader.

Display

Its 14-inch Full HD IPS LED-backlit display is not that great; the colors do look a bit muted. Because of the limited color gamut it can display. We think the screen is fine considering that the Acer Swift 3 falls under a $700 price range, it has Acer Color Intelligence that maximizes color clarity. Still, we recommend you to avoid buying this model if you do high-end color grading work since it is just 50% Adobe RGB and 67% sRGB.

Keyboard and Touchpad

This machine has a backlight keyboard. The keys have a decent amount of travel, although the shift and enter keys feel a bit cramped. The touchpad feels smooth, and its size is also right, it’s much better than most laptops in this price range.

Ports

It has a USB 2.0, two USB 3.0, Type-C, HDMI port, SD card reader, a headphone jack and a power connector.

Performance

The swift 3 has 8th Gen Intel Quad-Core i5-8265U processor, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB SSD drive to store all the files and data. It uses integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620, which is not that great, but it’s enough for casual gaming on low graphic settings and tasks like photo editing. Its battery can last up to 10 to 12 hours, which is way better than the Inspiron 15 5593 we reviewed.

Overall, this model is one of the best laptops under $700 with SSD. It is worth spending your money on this smart-looking machine with a decent configuration and fantastic battery life.

The Lenovo Flex 14 is a 2 in 1 laptop that is a part of Lenovo’s IdeaPad line. The laptop is powered by AMD Ryzen 5 3500U Quad-core Processor along with 12GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB NVMe SSD, and other exciting features, including the fingerprint reader.

Design

It comes in only one color, which is Onyx black. The laptop is made of plastic. Its top has a rubberized texture, and its hinges allow you to use it in Tablet mode, Tent mode, and of course, you can use it as a traditional laptop. Hinges are a bit stiff, so it requires two hands to open the lid. The webcam has a privacy shutter that lets you block the camera when not in use. It has a 14-inch touch display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. Colors are nice and vibrant and contrast is pretty good as well. Overall, the Flex 14 feels exceptionally sturdy.

Keyboard and Touchpad

Lenovo is known for making some of the best keyboards, and the flex is no different. The key travel is deep, and it is very comfortable to type. The keyboard is also backlight, and keys do not make much noise, which is perfect for classroom and office use. The unit has a precision touchpad, it’s smooth, and the click mechanism is also excellent.

Stylus

The machine comes with Lenovo’s active pen S. The pen can support 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity, and it has a quad eight battery, which is rated to last months.

Ports

On the left side, it has a proprietary charging port, an HDMI port, a USB Type-C port, and a headphone jack. On the other side, it has two USB 3.0 ports and an SD card reader.

Performance

The Lenovo Flex 14 boots into windows in less than 10 seconds, thanks to 256GB NVMe SSD, it is powered by AMD Ryzen 5 3500U Quad-core Processor along with 12GB DDR4 RAM. It’s a mid-range processor with the ability to run multiple apps simultaneously. It can also handle 1080p video editing and can provide a decent gaming experience.

The recharge time is pretty quick, but the battery life is disappointing. On minimum brightness, the battery lasts 6 hours, and on full brightness, the battery lasts 5 hours and 30 minutes.

In terms of value, it is excellent and provides a steller laptop experience. If the 5-hour battery life suits your needs, then it is one of the best laptops under $700 with SSD.

Specifications
Processor AMD Ryzen 5 3500U
RAM 12GB DDR4 RAM
Storage 256GB SSD
Graphics AMD Radeon Vega 8
Operating System Windows 10
Weight 3.52 Pounds

Dell Inspiron Chromebook 14 2-in-1 (7486)

check button
NOTE: This laptop does not have an SSD. We think it is still a good option because of its configuration at this price.

The Inspiron 7486 runs on Google’s Chrome OS and has intel core i3 8th generation processor, which gives it enough performance if your daily PC activity is stuff like Netflix, YouTube, and other online tasks. It also has a 128GB eMMC storage drive, which is several times bigger than most Chromebooks get. The Inspiron 7486 is the best laptop under $700 if this lightweight operating system suits your needs or you want a Chromebook with bigger storage and more features.

Design

This is a premium designed 14-inch convertible Chromebook. It has a 100 percent metal chassis, so everything from base to cover is made of aluminum. If you are familiar with Dell’s 7000 series, you’ll immediately recognize the design language. The display doesn’t have a borderless design because it’s a 2-in-1 laptop, so the bezel around the edges prevents accidental touches as you grip it in tablet mode. Its 360-degree hinges are very stiff, but the stiffness helps reduce display wobble from touch input. Overall, it’s a very sleek design that looks and feels premium.

Ports

On the left side, it has a USB Type-C port, which is the primary charging port. You can find the USB type-A and an audio jack next to the Type-C port. On the right side, it has a power button, volume Up and Down buttons, a micro SD port, and another Type-C port that supports video and power delivery.

Stylus Pen

It comes with an embedded stylus that uses electromagnetic resonance (EMR) technology, which means it does not have any battery. So the stylus never needs charging.

Performance

The Core i3-8130U processor and 4GB of RAM may not be enough for windows 10. But it gives the Inspiron 7486 plenty of performance since the Chrome OS is light and requires fewer resources than Windows 10. Probably you will not see the boot screen since it boots up too fast. It’s something that we don’t get from midrange windows pcs.

Its 14-inch 1080p screen consumes more power than lower-resolution displays. Still, the battery of Dell Inspiron 7486 can last up to 8 hours on normal use. Which is decent, but there are other Chromebooks such as Acer Chromebook 14 and Hp Chromebook x2 with better battery backup.

Specifications
Processor Intel Core i3-8130U
RAM 4 GB
Storage 128GB eMMC
Graphics Intel UHD Graphics 620
Operating System Chrome OS
Weight 3.99 pounds
Battery 8 hours
