A new rumor claims that Apple will further enlarge its iPhone smartphones’ display sizes next year. This will reportedly affect the Pro models of the iPhone 16 line, with the standard models retaining the same dimensions as the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.
Website MacRumors reported the “preliminary” display sizes of the phones this Friday. According to the outlet, while the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus won’t have a display size boost, they will gain around 2 grams of weight. With this, expect the same 6.1″ and 6.7″ displays in the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, respectively. Meanwhile, considering the weight of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus today, it means the iPhone 16 will weigh 173g while the iPhone 16 Plus will weigh 203g. The report says this weight gain could be “a consequence of minor design changes.”
On the other hand, both the Pro models in the lineup next year will reportedly have bigger screens: 6.27″ for the iPhone 16 Pro and 6.85″ for the iPhone 16 Pro Max. That is compared to the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which measure 6.3″ and 6,” respectively. In general, this will affect the dimensions of the models, making them a bit taller than their predecessors. Nonetheless, the report says the width of both phones will match the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max measurements.
The report reflects earlier claims that the iPhone 16 series will indeed have bigger screens, including a rumor from leaker Ross Young. Days later, supply analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also echoed the claims:
The display size of the iPhone 16 Pro will be slightly larger than the iPhone 14/15 Pro’s 6.1 “, allowing the 16 Pro to equip with a periscope camera thanks to larger internal space. It’s expected that iPhone 16 Pro Max and Pro will have periscopes (vs. only Pro Max among the 15 series). Cowell will likely be the CCM supplier for the iPhone 16 periscope in 2024.
Of course, taking the details with a pinch of salt is still suggested since it is still too early to determine the display sizes of the iPhone 16 models. Yet, what’s your opinion about this? Let us know in the comment section!
