There is another reason why you shouldn’t buy an iPhone today: Apple reportedly has plans to produce iPhone 14 and iPhone 13 variants sporting a USB-C port.

The speculations about the move started with a claim by a leaker named Majin Bu on Twitter. The user is known for sharing Apple accessory leaks, including the photos of cases for iPhone 15 models, revealing significant details related to the line’s Action Button. However, in the latest post by the leaker, a bolder claim was made, saying Apple could launch an iPhone 14 model with a USB-C port. Unfortunately, it seems the plan will only cover the basic model of the line instead of its Pro variants.

It is important to note, however, that the claims should still be taken with a pinch of salt as there is still no concrete proof to support this. Also, Majin Bu has deleted the post, making the claim more difficult to believe.

On the other hand, there are speculations that the USB-C might go beyond the iPhone 15 and iPhone 14. According to the code discovered in the tvOS 17 beta, there are phone models included in the code that are not part of the iPhone 15 line. Specifically, the code points to the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini. This parks the idea that Apple might be considering bringing the USB-C to said models as reproducing them with the same old port no longer makes sense. After all, putting the USB-C in the earlier iPhone lines should help the Cupertino company ensure that they will keep selling as different nations continue to embrace the standard USB-C charging system.
