A new leaked image of the case for the iPhone 15 Pro model indicates that Action Button will indeed replace the Mute button in September.

The images were shared by an X user named Majin Bu (via 9To5Mac), who also formerly shared other Apple accessory leaks. In June, the account shared a photo of a case with a wider and rounder opening for the button. However, this week’s leak no longer shows a case cutout, which is needed to switch the Mute button on and off. This suggests that the feature will definitely be replaced by a button that can only be pressed. It further supports the idea that the iPhone 14 Pro will have an Action Button, which will work like Apple Watch Ultra’s Action Button, allowing users to assign their preferred functions.
“Apparently the cases of the iPhone 15 Ultra models show a third button that should replace the old mute switcher,” the account shares, though it is still not certain whether the model will be called Ultra or Pro.
According to a recent report, the button can be customized, and the options available are already included (though hidden) in the iOS 17 beta. The code discovered lists nine different feature options: Accessibility, Shortcuts, Silent Mode, Camera, Flashlight, Focus, Magnifier, Translate, and Voice Memos.
