The release of the iPhone 15 series is expected not just to benefit Apple but so as its partner and supplier, the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). According to reports, the multinational semiconductor contract manufacturing and design company is expected to have an 11% revenue increase in the third quarter of 2023.
The standard iPhone 15 is expected to come with an A16 Bionic chip, while the iPhone 15 Pro will get a better A17 Bionic chip based on TSMC’s 3nm process. The TSMC will exclusively produce the A17 Bionic that will be used on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models, and this contribution is expected to benefit the company significantly in the coming months.
In the second quarter of the year, the company reported generating $17 billion in revenue. It experienced some challenges during the first two quarters of 2023, but reports predict this will change in the third quarter. And with Apple expected to increase its 3nm chip orders for its iPhone 15 line, the projected progress should be possible for TSMC.
No exact numbers are divulged on how much this partnership will bring to TSMC, but given that Apple is the Taiwan company’s biggest customer that makes up 23% of its annual revenue, the orders should significantly contribute to the company’s third-quarter revenue. Also, Apple reportedly secured 90 percent of 3nm chip shipments, and it is set to be one of TMSC’s first 2nm customers. Additionally, reports say that the expected iPhone 15 demand will translate to the Taiwanese company’s 100,000 3nm wafer monthly output.
