A new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says that Apple is “fast approaching the finish line” of its iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and watchOS 10 tests. Alongside this, Gurman revealed that Apple is considering releasing the iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 at the same time.

Gurman pointed out the “quick succession of releases for the sixth, seventh and eighth betas” as a hint that Apple is about to end its tests for the updates. With this, the reporter said that the last beta released by Apple for iOS 17, Beta 8, might be the last, “bearing any unforeseen circumstances.” The company released the beta last week, quickly followed by the iOS 17 Public Beta 6 to public testers. The beta only came with minimal changes, focusing on splash screens and small UI improvements, indicating that Apple might be making its final touches now.

“The company needs to complete the software in time to start installing it on iPhone 15 models coming off the assembly line,” Gurman added.

Gurman also claimed that iPadOS 17 will be arriving simultaneously with iOS 17. This is a huge change, especially after Apple released the iPadOS 16 a month later after the release of iOS 16 last year. This was, however, caused by certain issues in the test involving some features. Fortunately, Apple’s tests for the updates this year seem less problematic, explaining the fast rollout of the betas.
