How to Use Android Tablet as Drawing Pad for PC (Windows & MAC)

If you don’t want to invest in a professional drawing tablet like Wacom. You can connect your Android tablet, iPad, or phone to your PC and start drawing on tools like Paint3D, Adobe XD, Illustrator, Photoshop, e.t.c.

There are two ways to connect your tablet or phone to your PC.

  1. By Installing the Chrome Remote Desktop app on your PC and tablet. (Works on Apple devices too).
  2. By installing a third party drawing tablet app on your PC and Android device. 

Both methods require you to install applications on your PC and Android device, but the second process requires Java installed on your PC. If you are looking for an easy process, we recommend using method 1. Method 1 works for both Android and iOS devices, while method 2 is only for Android devices.

Method 1: Chrome Remote Desktop App (Windows & Macos)

Chrome remote desktop app lets you remotely control your computer with your Android or iOS device. It supports Windows, macOS, and Linux, so you can connect your device to your PC and use it as a drawing pad. 

Step 1: Open Chrome Remote Desktop and click on “Remote Support.”

If you are using some other browser, you’ll see a page for downloading chrome, it’s better to download chrome because your experience may be limited with other browsers due to missing features. You can also click on the “continue anyway” button.

Step 2: Log in to your web browser.

If you are not logged in, the browser will ask you to enter your credentials. (If you are logged in, you will not see any login page.)

Step 3: Add the Chrome Remote Desktop extension and download an installer on your PC.

Click on the download button, and a window will open. You have to add the Chrome Remote Desktop extension on your browser and download the MSI installer on your PC.

Step 4: Install Chrome Remote Desktop MSI on your PC.

Just like you install other apps, install the MSI file, and move to the next step.

Step 5: Set up remote access.

Open Chrome Remote Desktop and click on “Turn on.”

Step 6: Set up the Desktop name and PIN.

After clicking on turn on, you will be asked to choose a name for your PC. 

Enter the name and click on “Next.” Now you have to choose a pin with minimum 6 digits so only you can remotely access your PC using your tablet or phone.

Step 7: Install the Chrome Remote Desktop app on your iOS or Android device. 

Android users can download the app from Google Play.

iOS users can download the app from Apple App Store. 

Step 8: Connect your Tablet or Smartphone to your PC.

Once you download the Chrome Remote Desktop app, open the app, and you will see your desktop as a host. Click on your desktop name and authenticate using the pin you used while setting up remote access.

Step 9:  Now you can draw and remotely control your PC.

After entering the pin, your tablet will be connected to your PC. You can open any drawing app on your PC and start drawing either with a stylus or your finger. 

Method 2: Third-Party Drawing Tablet App

This method can be a bit complicated to set up for some people. If you are someone who is not into tech, method 1 would be easier for you. But still, if you want to use this method, follow the steps mentioned below.

Things you’ll need

  • Java.
  • Android tablet.
  • Drawing android app.
  • Windows desktop or laptop.

Step 1: Install Java on your PC.

If your PC does not have Java you can download Java from here. Once you download Java, install it.

Skip this step if Java is already installed on your PC.

Step 2: Download the drawing tablet app on your Android tablet.

Download the Wi-Fi Drawing Tablet app from Google Play.

Once it’d downloaded on your Android tablet, you have to install the PC version of that app on your computer. 

Step 3: Download the Wi-Fi tablet server app on your PC.

Click on this to download tablet server files on your PC.

Step 4: Set-up Wi-Fi Drawing Tablet app

  • Open the server files folder on your PC.
  • You’ll find two folders, open the Windows folder, and then click on the Wi-Fi tablet server application. 
  • After opening the app on PC, you’ll see an IP address. If there are two IP addresses, you have to use the first one. 
  • Open the Wi-Fi Drawing Tablet app on your Android device.
  • Click on the Settings icon on the top right.
  • In the IP address field, type the IP address displayed on the desktop application.
  • Now tap on the draw icon on the top left, and your tablet will be connected to your PC.

Final Words

We recommend method 1. It works on both Windows and macOS, and you can remotely control your PC when you are not drawing. Method 2 is only for drawing, and it’s hard to set up too.
