The latest Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) report shows that four of Apple’s iPhone models are the top 4 best-selling AMOLED smartphones during the second quarter of 2023. Samsung, meanwhile, has captured the last position with its S23 Ultra model.
The ranking shows the ranking of the AMOLED smartphone models by panel revenue/OLED shipments in 2023’s first and second quarters. The report reveals that iPhones also obtained the first four spots during the first quarter, but the ranking of the models changed in the next.
In Q1, the report shows that the iPhone 14 Pro Max owned the top spot with a 20.1% revenue share. It is followed by iPhone 14 Pro (15.6%), iPhone 13 (7.8%), and iPhone 14 (7.7%). However, the iPhone models’ ranking drastically changed in Q2, with the standard iPhone 14 model reaching the top with a 15.3% revenue share, followed by iPhone 13 (11.1%), iPhone 14 Pro Max (10.7%), and iPhone 14 Pro (9.2%).
The changes reflect the DSCC’s overall report about the situation of OLED shipments, with the firm sharing that Apple saw a drop in the quarterly OLED shipment during the second quarter of 2023. The report says the general OLED panel shipments also experienced a 2% YoY decrease.
“As revealed in DSCC’s latest release of the OLED Shipment Report – Flash Edition, OLED panel shipments increased 10% Q/Q and decreased 2% Y/Y in Q2’23 to 170M units,” the report reads. “The Q/Q growth for several applications is a positive sign that indicates that inventory is starting to rebalance for some categories after Y/Y declines in 2022 and double-digit Q/Q and Y/Y declines in Q1’23. In Q2’23, by select OLED applications, smartphones panel shipments increased 4% Q/Q and 1% Y/Y in units and TV panel shipments increased 42% Q/Q and decreased 26% Y/Y in units.”
