With the latest technology, the manufacturer has made some modifications to the classic Victrola record players. Now they are equipped with advanced parts to enhance audio quality and overall performance. Back in the early days, when record players were too popular, Victrola was the lead. That’s still true today.

Victrola Portable Suitcase Record Player

If you are looking for your first record player, this model is an excellent option; it is portable, and you don’t have to spend much money to get it for yourself or as a gift for your loved ones.

Design

The player is light and small, so it is easy to carry and store. The surface is made of rexine-like material, and it has metal corners to protect it from damage. The built-in speakers are in front. On the back, it’s got the ports for the power cord, output stereo, and has two metal hinges. It also got audio isolating feet that help eliminate and isolate vibration. These record players are available in multiple colors and patterns.

Sound Quality

The Victrola has a decent sound quality for its price. The speakers provide very thin audio. Some people may experience sound distortion as well. However, if you don’t want to use its built-in speakers, it has an output jack at the back where you can connect your external speakers. The other model that we reviewed in this price range, the Jensen JTA-230, had a slightly better sound quality.

Build Quality

The Victrola’s outer suitcase is sturdy, and it does not look cheap. Like other record players do in this price range. The tonearm is made of metal, but we think it’s a bit thin and flimsy. Some reviewers have claimed that this suitcase record player can damage your records. But we believe it’s not true. Its stylus down pressure is within the standards, so don’t worry about that. Overall, it does not have the best build quality, but we think it’s good for this price.

User Experience

You don’t need extensive knowledge about turntables to use this model. It comes with an instructional manual to make your experience as smooth as possible. The player can automatically recognize what type of record you’re playing and can change the platter speed to 33, 45, or 78 rpm as required. It has a cueing lever that allows you to lower or raise the tonearm so you can easily place the stylus on the vinyl record without damaging anything. Some features are missing, such as tracking force adjustment and pitch control, so it’s not possible to increase or decrease the platter speed based on your needs.

Bluetooth Connectivity

You can connect any Bluetooth-enabled audio device and can listen to music without connecting cords to other devices.

What’s Inside the Box?

The box includes a power cable, an instructional manual, and an extra stylus.

PROS

  • Built-In Bluetooth
  • 3-in-1 music player
  • Compact design

CONS

  • The needle skips the record sometimes
  • The cueing lever doesn’t work too well, so it requires hand cueing most of the time
