According to the latest claims, the fourth-generation iPhone SE isn’t only happening, but it is also set to get some exciting features like the Action Button already expected from the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro models.

Unfortunately, the new smartphone still won’t release next year. As the analyst recently reported, the 2024 launch is still far from possible, with 2025 being the earliest. Nonetheless, this is much better than the previous claim by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who said in April that iPhone SE 4 would only be limited to prototypes.

“I previously predicted that the iPhone SE 4 would be a derivative model of the iPhone 14,” Kuo tweeted months ago. “However, my latest research indicates that this derivative model will likely be an engineering prototype for Apple in-house 5G baseband chip technology and mass production validation, and there are no plans for mass production and sales.”

The claim was countered by Barclays analysts Blayne Curtis and Tom O’Malley, who reportedly had “multiple conversations” with companies related to Apple’s supply chain. According to the two, fans can still expect the smartphone. The claim has been recently corroborated by a report from the Chinese website IT Home, saying Chinese companies are already seeking the favor of Apple to be its display manufacturer for the rumored phone.

That’s not the only good news, though: Famous leaker @URedditor claimed over the weekend that the iPhone SE 4 might also get the Action Button. The button will then replace the Mute Button, allowing users to assign their preferred functions. Based on the code of iOS Beta 4, the selections of options for these functions include Accessibility, Shortcuts, Silent Mode, Camera, Flashlight, Focus, Magnifier, Translate, and Voice Memos. If this is true, the addition of the Action Button in the phone might indicate that Apple is planning to bring some of the Pro features of its phones to its entry-level offerings in the future.

Meanwhile, aside from having a FaceID and only one camera, the leaker also stressed that the “planned features and design changes” in the phone will include a “design based on iPhone 14” and the USB-C. The coming of the USB-C port in the iPhone 4 SE, nonetheless, should no long be a surprise, as previous reports indicate that Apple has plans to soon bring it to its assortment of products. That includes the standard iPhone 14, iPhone 13, and iPhone 13 mini.
