The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are no longer the models that can show the flashlight icon indicator in the Dynamic Island. As of the iOS 17 Beta 1 release, Apple has also injected it into all iPhone models with the shape-changing hub feature. These models include the standard iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The move makes sense since there seems not to be a sufficient reason to keep the flashlight indicator exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro models. Usually, Apple could make some features dedicated to specific models by arguing that they have hardware-related requirements, but this is not obviously the case for a simple flashlight indicator in an iPhone with Dynamic Island.

As mentioned above, however, the new icon will be limited to the iPhone models with the said pill-shaped section. Hence, iPhone 14 Plus and earlier models compatible with the iOS 17 update will still be using the old button on their Lock Screen as their sole indicator for the tool.

On the other hand, while Apple has no obvious reasons to keep the flashlight indicator exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro, it’s a bit of bad news that it could be the case for the new Charging Optimization page that ships with the iOS 17 version found in the iPhone 15 series. As of the first beta release of iOS 17.1, it is still not appearing in older iPhone models, albeit it was first spotted in the iOS 17 Release Candidate.

The battery-related feature might arrive in future versions of iOS 17, but it is also possible that it won’t. Unlike the simple flashlight indicator, the feature might have battery and other hardware requirements. And given that the iPhone 15 has a lot of enhancements, that is not impossible.
