How to use the ColorOS Safe Centre or Private Safe?

1.   For ColorOS 6.0 to 11:

  • Before you may use the Private safe, you must first set the Privacy passcode.

For ColorOS versions 7.1 to 7.2, navigate to ‘Settings’ > ‘Privacy’ > ‘Private Safe’ and input the password you created. Press the folders you wish to make private (Photos, Audio, Documents, Other) and then tap ‘Add’ at the top right. Select the files you want to make private and tap ‘Done’.

For ColorOS 6.1, navigate to ‘Settings’ > ‘Security’ > ‘Private Safe’ > and input the privacy password you configured. To add files, tap any of the folders (Photos, Audio, Documents, or Other) and then tap the ‘+’ in the top-right. Tap ‘Done’ after selecting the files you wish to make private.

Additionally, you can create a shortcut on your Home Screen for quick access.

To enable, navigate to ‘Settings’ > ‘Privacy’ > ‘Private Safe’ > input your password and, in the top right corner, tap the ‘OPPO Private Safe Two Dotted Line Two-dotted Line’ > ‘Settings’ and toggle ‘Home Screen Shortcut’ to enable, then touch and hold the Private Safe icon or tap ‘Add’.

To delete the Private Safe app from your Home Screen, press & hold the app and tap ‘Remove’.

2.   For ColorOS 5.1 and ColorOS 5.2:

Prior to using Private Safe, you must create a Privacy passcode. Enter your preferred password or use a different encryption technique in ‘Settings’ > ‘Fingerprint, face, and passcode’ > ‘LockScreen passcode’.

  • On the home screen, create a shortcut to Private Safe.
  • Enter a passcode for your private safe under ‘Settings’ > ‘Security’ > ‘Private Safe’, then enable ‘Home Screen Shortcut’. If you have a fingerprint lock, this can also be used to unlock Private Safe.

Move files to Private Safe

Enter the private password you created in ‘Settings’ > ‘Security’ > ‘Private Safe’ > tap the folders (Photos, Audio, Documents, Other) and tap ‘Import files/Import photos’. Tap ‘Done’ after selecting the files you wish to make private.

Additionally, you can navigate to ‘Files Manager’ on the home screen, choose a file, press ‘More’, and then tap ‘Add to Private Safe’ to move the file to Private Safe.

  • Remove files from the Private Safe or delete them
  • To delete a file, select it and then click ‘Set as Public’ or ‘Delete’.

What if the encrypted files cannot be found in Private Safe?

  • Verify if the file is still in its original save place; if so, re-save it to Private Safe.
  • If you are unable to view the file, restart your OPPO phone and check Private Safe again.
  • Navigate to ‘Settings’ > ‘Software Updates’ and perform a software update on your phone.

For ColorOS 3.0 to 3.2:

  • You may encrypt and hide your crucial data with ‘File Safe.’ ‘File Safe’ requires password verification, and encrypted files can only be seen in File Safe.
  • On your home screen, go to ‘Files,’ then ‘File Safe,’ and enter your password.

Move files to File Safe

For ColorOS 3.2, go to the phone’s home screen, tap the ‘File Manager’ app, then ‘File Safe,’ and enter the file safe password you created. Tap ‘Add File’ after selecting the relevant folders (Pictures, Audio, Video, Document, Others). Tap ‘Move to Safe’ after selecting the files you want to keep private.

For ColorOS 3.1, go to the phone’s home screen, tap the ‘Files’ app, then ‘File Safe,’ and enter the file safe password you created. Tap ‘Add File’ after selecting the desired folders (Picture, Audio, Videos, Documents, Others). Tap ‘To Safe’ after selecting the files you want to make private.

For ColorOS 3.0, go to the phone’s home screen, tap the ‘Files’ app, then ‘File Safe,’ and enter the file safe password you created. Tap ‘Add File’ and then select the desired directories (Android, Backup, DCIM, Download, Movies, Music, Pictures). Tap ‘Move to Safe’ after selecting the files you want to keep private.

Move out or delete files from File Safe

Select the files you want to delete from ‘File Safe,’ then touch ‘Delete’ or ‘Move out.’ Alternatively, you can remove or move the file by swiping it to the left.

What if the encrypted files cannot be found in File Safe?

Check to see if the file is still in its original save place; if so, move it back to File Safe.

If you are unable to see the file, restart your OPPO phone and then recheck File Safe.

Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘System updates’ to update your phone’s software to the most recent version.
