In the third week after Apple started accepting iPhone 15 Pro pre-orders, wait times for the smartphones have finally started improving. According to the data from J.P. Morgan, while the delivery waiting times for the standard iPhone 15 models remain the same, the wait times for the iPhone 15 Pro variant decreased by a week.
J.P. Morgan’s Product Availability Tracker (via AppleInsider) shows the new Apple smartphones’ global delivery wait time improvements. Specifically, the data show that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus have maintained the 17-day wait time they obtained in the second week of the pre-order. Meanwhile, the wait time for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max dropped from 36 to 29 days and 54 to 46 days, respectively. These improvements are expected as Apple and its partners continue to produce more units and deliver the current stock to customers.
Despite this drop, it is important to note that there is a huge difference between the wait times of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 lineups. To compare, as MacRumors reported, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus only reached 0 and 3 days of wait times, respectively, during the same period last year. iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, on the other hand, respectively had 31 and 39 days.
Here are the third-week wait time improvements in specific primary iPhone markets:

According to the investment firm in the note to investors, the high wait time of the standard iPhone 15 models is “at least partly attributable to supply ramp issues that have since been resolved,” while the wait time of the Pro variants is “likely impacted by the confluence of early order momentum and slower supply ramp.”
Counterpoint, on the other hand, explained in a recent report that the high wait times could be a reflection of the actual charm of the iPhone 15 models, especially the Pro and Pro Max variants.
“I don’t think it’s a big surprise the Pro Max is showing longer wait times than its predecessor,” Senior Analyst, Manufacturing, Ivan Lam said. “It’s normal to experience hiccups when you’ve got significant upgrades on complex mechanisms like the camera module. But looking at wait times this weekend as the product starts selling in stores, it looks like availability is moving in the right direction and normalizing.”
“The introduction of premium features like Dynamic Island previously exclusive to the Pro lineup has really increased its appeal to the general consumer base,” Jeff Fieldhack, Counterpoint Research Director for North America, commented on the base iPhone 15 long wait times. “It’s basically an iPhone 14 Pro at base level price and paired with the new aesthetic updates has created more incentives for users to upgrade this year.”
